HB3516 by Schubert (Relating to reimbursement of county expenses for special legislative elections.), As Introduced
The cost to the state to reimburse counties for expenses related to certain elections cannot be determined at this time due to the number of unknown variables such as the number of counties affected and the various expenses.
The bill would amend the Election Code to require the Secretary of State to certify certain county expenses for special legislative elections, and require the Comptroller to reimburse counties for certified expenses.
According to the Secretary of State, the following variables related to the bill provisions are unknown:
1) The number of counties participating in special legislative elections.
2) The amount of expenses to be reimbursed.
3) The frequency of special legislative elections.
The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2015.
