LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2015

TO:
Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3860 by Guerra (Relating to immigration visa waivers for physicians.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 12 of the Health and Safety Code to require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide an equal opportunity to request a waiver of the foreign country residence requirement for certain physicians who agree to practice medicine in a medically underserved area or a health professional shortage area. DSHS indicates that it could absorb the costs associated with the bill within its current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
