No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends Chapters 25 and 37 of the Texas Education Code related to the removal, discipline, or transfer of a public school student for various offenses.

The bill would require the board of trustees or designee to provide additional student hearings prior to expulsion or placement in an alternative setting.

Local Government Impact

School districts may incur some costs related to providing local training and additional hearings for alternative student placements. These costs are not anticipated to be significant.
