No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Government Code to repeal the grand jury commissioner system in which persons are appointed by a district court to serve as grand jury commissioners to summon persons to be considered for service on a grand jury. The bill would clarify provisions on persons qualified to serve, the appointment of alternate jurors, and when a judge may dismiss a juror from service.
The Office of Court Administration indicates the bill's provisions are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication to the workloads of the judiciary.
