No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require teachers assigned to bilingual education programs using either a transitional bilingual/early exit or transitional bilingual/late exit program model to be appropriately certified.
The bill would allow a district to assign multiple appropriately certified teachers for components of a dual language immersion/one-way or two-way program provided in a language other than English and in English.
The Texas Education Agency anticipates that any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. School districts would have additional options for assigning appropriately certified teachers for different bilingual education program models.
