LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 9, 2015

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB236 by Schwertner (Relating to the punishment of certain controlled substance offenses committed in a drug-free zone.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code as it relates to the punishment of certain controlled substance offenses committed in a drug-free zone. Under the provisions of the bill the penalty for the possession, manufacture, or delivery of a Penalty Group 1-A substance in a drug-free zone would be enhanced.  This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies, programs, or workloads.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
