LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2015

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB320 by Zaffirini (Relating to the enforcement of certain motor vehicle weight and safety standards.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to establish by rule uniform weighing procedures for weight enforcement offices and permit DPS to revoke or rescind the authority of a weight enforcement officer if certain conditions exist. The bill would permit police officers in certain municipalities to apply for a certificate under Section 644, Transportation Code.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
