No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to permit a municipal officer the right to access certain information from a municipal governmental body. The bill would establish a procedure of maintaining confidentiality of the information. Under the provisions of the bill, a municipal officer may seek a decision from the Attorney General whether information is confidential or excepted from disclosure. The Attorney General would be required to issue a written decision. The municipal officer or municipal governing body may appeal the decision to a district court under certain conditions.

The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
