No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code to permit a director of a special district the right to access certain information from a special district. The bill would establish a procedure of maintaining confidentiality of the information. Under the provisions of the bill, a director of a special district may seek a decision from the Attorney General whether information is confidential or excepted from disclosure. The Attorney General would be required to issue a written decision. A director of a special district or the special district may appeal the decision to a district court under certain conditions.
The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.
