LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2015

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB449 by Bettencourt (Relating to titling and registration of an autocycle.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapters 501 and 502 of the Transportation Code to establish the definition of an autocycle and specify that an autocycle is considered to be a motorcycle for the purposes vehicle titling and registration.

Based on the information provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the change to the definition of motorcycle would authorize the titling and registration of certain types of vehicles for road use that are not currently eligible. Based on the analysis of DMV, it is assumed implementation of the bill would not result in a significant impact to state revenue and any costs could be absorbed within the DMV's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
