LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 23, 2015

TO:
Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB750 by Taylor, Larry (relating to a report made by school districts to the Texas Education Agency regarding the district ’s property and casualty insurance costs.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require each district to provide its cost to obtain property and casualty insurance to the Texas Education Agency. The TEA would be required to make the information gathered available on the agency website and also would be required to compare the property and casualty insurances costs of districts that do not contract for windstorm and hail insurance with the property and casualty insurance costs of distracts that do.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
