FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 10, 2015

Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB795 by Perry (Relating to establishing an interstate voter registration crosscheck program.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require the Secretary of State to coordinate with other states and jurisdictions in order to develop systems to prevent the duplication of voter registration.

The Secretary of State estimates there would be a cost associated with implementing provisions of the bill. It is anticipated that the cost could be absorbed within existing resources.

This bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of each house; if not, it will take effect on September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
