No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 71 of the Family Code to add references to applicant for a protective order in the definition of dating violence. The bill also expands the definition of abuse within the meaning of family violence and directs the court to consider certain circumstances when appointing an individual as a managing conservator of a child. The provisions of the bill would apply only to suits affecting the parent-child relationship which are filed on or after the effective date of the bill.
The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the state court system resulting from this bill.
The bill would go into effect on September 1, 2015.
