LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 12, 2015

TO:
Honorable Carol Alvarado, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB837 by Watson (Relating to a common characteristic or use project in and to the establishment of a public improvement district in certain municipalities.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to expand the bracket of entities permitted to undertake a project under Section 372.0035 that confers a special benefit on areas that share a common characteristic or use. The bill specifies requirements for a petition for the establishment of a public improvement district.

Local Government Impact

It is assumed that a local governmental entity would undertake a project only if sufficient funds were available or it would not result in a negative fiscal impact; therefore, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
