LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 6, 2015

TO:
Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1115 by Campbell (Relating to a program allowing certain military voters on active duty overseas to cast a ballot electronically.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to permit counties to participate in a program, operated by the Secretary of State, relating to certain military voters on active duty overseas to cast a ballot electronically.

The Secretary of State indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house.  Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2015.

Local Government Impact

It is assumed that a county would desire to participate in the program only if the funds are available.
