SB1200 by Taylor, Larry (relating to the creation of a committee to recommend a new system for student assessment and public school accountability.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would establish the Texas Commission on Next Generation Assessments and Accountability, composed of members appointed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, Chair of the Senate Committee on Higher Education, Chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Education, Chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Higher Education, and member of the State Board of Education. The commission would develop and make recommendations for new systems of student assessment and public school accountability. The commission would be abolished on January 1, 2017. 

Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
