LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 7, 2015

TO:
Honorable René Oliveira, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1344 by Huffines (Relating to the removal of a tenant's personal property after a writ of possession has been issued in an eviction suit.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Property Code to permit a municipality to provide a portable closed container for personal property being removed from a residence under Section 24.0061, Property Code.

Local Government Impact

There could be costs to a municipality that chose to store personal property under the provisions of the bill. However, it is assumed that a municipality would store personal property only if sufficient funds were available or it would not result in a negative fiscal impact; therefore, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
