April 3, 2015

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Economic Development

FROM:

IN RE:
SB1444 by Taylor, Larry (Relating to liability of certain electric utilities that allow certain uses of land that the electric utility owns, occupies, or leases.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies code to repeal Section 75.0022(b) regarding limited liability of electric utilities that allow certain uses of land that it owns, occupies, and leases in counties with populations of four million or more.

Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and Public Utility Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
