April 17, 2015

TO:
Honorable Eddie Lucio Jr., Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:

IN RE:
SB1454 by Zaffirini (Relating to authorizing counties to require the submission of digital maps in connection with the county plat approval process.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to permit a commissioners court of a county to require certain applications for county plat approval to include digital maps that are compatible with other mapping systems used by the county. Under the provisions of the bill, the requirement can only be required in a format widely used by common geographic information system software. The bill would specify that a requirement adopted must include an exemption from the requirement if the owner submits an acknowledged statement with the application indicating the digital mapping technology necessary to submit a map that complies with the subsection was not reasonably accessible.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
