IN RE:
SB1485 by Garcia (Relating to the availability of death records of unidentified persons.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code relating to public information exceptions. In current statute a death record is not available to the public until the 25th anniversary of the date of death. The bill would allow death records to become available on the first anniversary in cases where the decedent is unknown. The Department of State Health Services indicates that implementation of the bill could be accomplished within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
