No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require open enrollment charter schools to be considered a local government for the purpose of certain laws.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Open-enrollment charter schools could participate in group benefits programs, participate in interlocal cooperation contracts, provide self-insurance, and extend workers' compensation benefits to employees by any method available to a political subdivision.
