FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2015

TO:
Honorable Kevin Eltife, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:

IN RE:
SB1585 by Lucio (Relating to a study on the feasibility of establishing a prepaid investment plan or other product to help citizens of this state finance and access residential care.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), in cooperation with the Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) and the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS), to conduct a study on the feasibility of establishing a prepaid investment plan or other product to help citizens finance and access residential care and submit a report by November 1, 2016 containing the findings of the study.  Based on the analysis provided by HHSC, CPA, and DADS, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing state resources.
