IN RE:
SB1679 by Huffines (Relating to procedures for a certain municipalities to adopt or amend a national model building code.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to require certain municipalities to comply with procedure requirements for adopting or amending a national model code. Under the provisions of the bill, the procedure requirements would include the preparation of a cost-benefit analysis and holding two public hearing on the proposed adoption of or amendment to a national model code. The bill would require the procedures to be completed before any building code amendment could be adopted.

Local Government Impact

There would be administrative costs to a local entity to comply with the provisions of the bill, including holding the public meetings, preparing the cost-benefit analysis and maintaining information on an Internet website. The costs would depend on the resources of a local entity and the proposed changes.
