No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.


Local Government Impact

The bill would amend Section 327.007, Tax Code, regarding the municipal sales and use tax for street maintenance in a municipality with a population of 10,000 or more surrounded entirely by a municipality with a population of 1.3 million or more. The amendment would provide that the tax expires after the 20th anniversary after the tax was last reauthorized, if the voters approved the tax for that duration.
 
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote of the membership of each house of the Legislature, otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2015.

The bill would affect the tax reauthorized in the City of Olmos Park in an election held May 10, 2014.
