IN RE: | SB126 by West (Relating to the release of certain inmates on medically recommended intensive supervision.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Government Code to reduce the restrictions and allow certain inmates convicted of offenses listed in Section 3g, Article 42.12 Code of Criminal Procedure to be eligible for consideration for release on medically recommended intensive supervision.
Increasing the number of people eligible for consideration for release under medically recommended intensive supervision has the potential to decrease demand on correctional resources by decreasing the number of people in state correctional institutions. This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations, programs, or workloads.
