Pursuant to a notice posted on June 30, 2016, the House Committee on Appropriations met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Otto, at 10:04 a.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Otto; Ashby; Bell; Bonnen, Greg; Burkett; Capriglione; Giddings; Gonzales, Larry; Howard; Hughes; Johnson, Jarvis; Koop; Longoria; Miles; Miller, Rick; Muñoz, Jr.; Phelan; Price; Raney; and VanDeaver.
A quorum was present.
Representatives Darby and Zerwas were also in attendance.

The Committee took testimony on Interim Charge 16: Evaluate the effectiveness of the Department of Public Safety’s use of funds appropriated during the 84th legislative session for border security operations. Examine existing data and reporting on border security metrics, and recommend improvements to ensure the availability of accurate information in considering sustaining or increasing border security funds.
