Pursuant to a notice posted on April 12, 2016, revised on April 19, 2016, the House Committee on Business & Industry Committee in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Oliveira, at 9:20 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Oliveira; Simmons; Fletcher; Romero, Jr.; and Villalba.

A quorum was present.

Joint hearing with the International Trade and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee.

The Committees considered the following charge:

Analyze recent data attributing the decline in domestic manufacturing to a consistent trade deficit caused by steady increases in net imports. Study how expanding trade and investing in manufacturing communities’ partnerships can grow the state’s skilled workforce and production as well as increase net exports and develop a trade balance.

At 12:54 p.m., on the motion of Representative Oliveira and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
