Pursuant to a notice posted on July 24, 2015, revised on July 27, 2015, the House Committee on County Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Coleman, at 2:05 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Coleman; Farias; Burrows; Stickland; and Wu.

 

Representative Collier was also in attendance.

 

A quorum was present.

In the wake of the Sandra Bland arrest and death, the Committee will meet to hear public and invited testimony regarding jail standards, procedures with regards to potentially mentally ill persons in county jails, as well as issues stemming from interactions between the general public and peace officers.
