Pursuant to a notice posted on May 1, 2015, the House Committee on General Investigating & Ethics met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Kuempel, at 6:39 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Kuempel; Collier; Davis, Sarah; Hunter; Larson; Moody; and Turner, Chris.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

Representative Collier moved that the Committee recess in executive session.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Kuempel; Collier; Davis, Sarah; Hunter; Larson; Moody; Turner, Chris (7).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        None (0).

 

At 6:40 p.m., on the motion of Representative Collier and without objection, the meeting was recessed.

 

The committee reconvened at 8:40 p.m. and was called to order by the chair, Representative Kuempel.

 

The quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Kuempel; Collier; Davis, Sarah; Hunter; Larson; Moody; and Turner, Chris.

 

A quorum was present.

 

Representative Kuempel made the following motion:

 

I move that the General Investigating and Ethics Committee request the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers Division, to investigate the submission of electronic witness affirmations, and all matters related thereto, to the Transportation Committee on April 30 and to report the results of the investigation to the Committee.  I further move that the April 30 Transportation Committee hearing video currently being withheld in connection with the Committee’s investigation be made available to the public as soon as possible.

 

Representative Hunter seconded the motion.

 

The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Kuempel; Collier; Davis, Sarah; Hunter; Larson; Moody; Turner, Chris (7).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        None (0).

 

At 8:43 p.m., on the motion of Representative Kuempel and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
