Pursuant to a notice posted on March 10, 2016, the House Committee on Mental Health, Select met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Price, at 10:04 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Price; Moody; Davis, Sarah; Galindo; Muņoz, Jr.; Murr; Rose; Turner, Chris; and White, James.

 

A quorum was present.

The committee heard testimony related to children's mental health from clinical setting witnesses -- a pediatrician, a child/adolescent psychiatrist, and Clarity Child Guidance Center, a provider of children's mental health services.

At 12:08 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until 12:50 p.m., March 22, 2016.

 

The committee reconvened at 1:03 p.m. and was called to order by the chair, Representative Price.

The committee heard testimony related to children's mental health from education (K-12) setting witnesses -- Region 4 Education Service Center, Austin Independent School District, Bluebonnet Trails Community Services with Hutto Independent School District and Elgin Independent School District, and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health.
