Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water & Rural Affairs was held on Monday, March 2, 2015, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called:

Senator Juan Hinojosa

 

The Chair made introductory remarks and introduced committee staff. The Chair recognized the other members of the committee to introduce their staff and make opening remarks.

 

Senator Zaffirini moved adoption of the committee rules. The rules were adopted by a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays and 1 absent.

 

 

 

The Chair called the following agency representatives to provide an overview and update from the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Texas Animal Health Commission and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. See attached witness list.

 

The Chair announced that the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners will provide invited testimony during the next hearing.

 

There being no further business, at 1:57 PM Senator Perry moved that the Committee be adjourned. Without objection, it was so ordered.
