Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Monday, February 9, 2015, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:04 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

Senator Nelson made opening remarks.

Senator Nelson laid out SB 2.

Testimony was heard on SB 2 – Article III. Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached list. 

School for the Deaf

Public testimony was heard on School for the Deaf.

School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Special Provisions for the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired/Texas School for the Deaf

John McGeady, Legislative Budget Board, gave a general overview on education funding.

At 1:44 PM Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed until 30 minutes after adjournment of the Senate. Without objection, it was so ordered.

At 3:26 PM Senator Nelson reconvened the meeting.

Available University Fund

Senator Hinojosa assumed the chair.

Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

Higher Education Fund

National Research University Fund

Permanent Fund Supporting Military and Veterans Exemptions

Public testimony was heard.

Senator Hinojosa assumed the chair.

Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

Senator Nelson moved that SB 2 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

There being no further business, at 7:24 PM Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
