Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

The Chair announced that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Zika Virus and actions at the federal, state, and local levels to prepare for Zika transmission in Texas.  The Chair announced that only invited testimony would be taken. 

The Chair called up two panels of invited witnesses. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

At 3:29 PM Senator Kolkhorst assumed the chair.

At 3:31 PM Senator Schwertner resumed the chair.

The chair moved that the testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

There being no further business, at 4:34 PM Senator Schwertner moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
