Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Subcommittee on -S/C Border Security was held on Monday, April 20, 2015, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Hall moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearings held on April 6, 2015 and April 14, 2015; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 1035 and recognized the author, Senator Rodríguez, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Rodríguez sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Rodríguez to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Birdwell moved that SB 1035 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 8:33 AM Senator Hall assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SB 1928 and recognized Senator Birdwell, in the absence of the author, Senator Seliger, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Birdwell sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Birdwell to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Birdwell moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Hall moved that SB 1928 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 8:47 AM Senator Birdwell resumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SB 1252 and recognized the author, Senator Hall, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Hall sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Hall to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Hall moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Birdwell moved that SB 1252 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
