Pursuant to Rule 1, Texas House Rules and pursuant to Rule 11.03, Texas Senate Rules, a public hearing of the Joint Committee on Economic Stabilization Fund Balance, Select was held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

Co-chair Senator Nelson called the meeting to order at 9:02 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Co-chair Senator Nelson made opening remarks.

 

Co-chair Representative Davis moved adoption of the committee rules.  Without objection, the rules were adopted.

 

Invited testimony was heard. Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached list.

 

Co-chair Representative Davis moved to adopt a sufficient balance of the Economic Stabilization Fund totaling $7.5 billion for the state fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2017.  Senator Whitmire seconded the motion. The motion carried with a record vote of 8 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. 

 

There being no further business, at 10:35 AM Co-chair Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Co-chairs. Without objection, it was so ordered.
