A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to required mental health, behavioral health, and |
|
|
substance abuse services under the Texas women's health program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 531.0997 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 531.0997. TEXAS WOMEN'S HEALTH PROGRAM; REQUIRED |
|
|
SERVICES FOR MENTAL HEALTH, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE. |
|
|
(a) In this section, "Texas women's health program" means a program |
|
|
operated by the commission that is substantially similar to the |
|
|
demonstration project operated under former Section 32.0248, Human |
|
|
Resources Code, and that is intended to expand access to preventive |
|
|
health and family planning services for women in this state. |
|
|
(b) The health care services provided under the Texas |
|
|
women's health program must include screening and treatment for: |
|
|
(1) mental health conditions; |
|
|
(2) behavioral health conditions; and |
|
|
(3) substance abuse disorders. |
|
|
(c) The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary |
|
|
to implement this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect December 1, 2017. |
