A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the date on which changes to voting by voters who reside |
|
|
at a residential care facility take effect. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding Section 8, Chapter 980 (H.B. |
|
|
658), Acts of the 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, Sections |
|
|
86.003 and 86.004, Election Code, as amended by that Act, and |
|
|
Chapter 107, Election Code, as added by that Act, take effect |
|
|
January 1, 2018. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act does not take effect. |
