R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by |
|
the family and friends of Mikal "Zane" Walker of Waxahachie, a |
|
remarkable young man whose life was cut tragically short on July 3, |
|
2017, at the age of 17; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on July 19, 1999, Zane Walker was the |
|
cherished son of Stacey and Shane Walker and the brother of Katie |
|
Walker; he had recently graduated from Waxahachie High School, |
|
where he was a varsity swimmer and a three-year letterman on the |
|
Indians soccer team; passionate about sports and outdoor activities |
|
of any kind, he volunteered his time as a youth-league soccer |
|
referee and as an assistant coach for his sister's soccer team, and |
|
he had recently taken a job as a lifeguard; he planned to continue |
|
his studies at Texas State University in the fall; and |
|
WHEREAS, A young man who embraced life to the fullest, |
|
Mr. Walker was also a kind, loyal, and supportive friend; with his |
|
lively personality and wonderful sense of humor, he made every |
|
occasion all the more memorable, and he was admired by everyone for |
|
the determination and fearlessness with which he pursued his goals; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Although his passing leaves a tremendous void, those |
|
fortunate enough to have known Zane Walker will never forget the |
|
joy, laughter, and love that he shared with them, and they will keep |
|
his memory in their hearts forever; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Mikal "Zane" Walker and extend deepest condolences to all those who |
|
mourn his passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Zane |
|
Walker. |
