R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Members of the Harlingen community gathered on May |
|
|
10, 2017, to celebrate the opening of two all-inclusive playgrounds |
|
|
at Pendleton and Victor Parks; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Funded through a partnership between the City of |
|
|
Harlingen and the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School |
|
|
District, the new recreational areas are among the first of their |
|
|
kind in the Rio Grande Valley; their play equipment includes mazes, |
|
|
platforms, slides, and swings, all designed to be accessible to |
|
|
individuals with disabilities and other special needs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With the opening of these two new playgrounds, the |
|
|
City of Harlingen and Harlingen CISD have demonstrated their |
|
|
steadfast commitment to promoting equality and to making their town |
|
|
an even better place in which to live; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the City of |
|
|
Harlingen and Harlingen CISD for funding the all-inclusive |
|
|
playgrounds at Pendleton and Victor Parks and extend to all those |
|
|
associated with these notable endeavors sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for the City of Harlingen and Harlingen CISD as an expression of |
|
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
