R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of John Benard Fisher III of Corpus Christi on June 11, |
|
2017, at the age of 82; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Erna and John B. Fisher, Mr. Fisher was |
|
born in Kingsville on March 1, 1935; after graduating from |
|
H. M. King High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree in |
|
1957 from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps |
|
of Cadets; he married the former Jacqueline Stewart in 1958, and the |
|
couple began their life together at Fort Lewis in Washington state, |
|
where Mr. Fisher was serving on active duty in the U.S. Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, After returning to Texas, Mr. Fisher embarked on a |
|
career as an educator and taught in Calvert and Premont; he later |
|
worked for Central Power and Light for more than a decade before |
|
becoming the marketing director for State National Bank of |
|
Robstown; in 1993, he and Mrs. Fisher purchased the Fortuna Bay Bed |
|
and Breakfast in Corpus Christi, which they ran together before |
|
retiring in 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, this notable Texan gave generously |
|
of his time and talents to a host of worthy causes and |
|
organizations; he served as president of the Robstown Rotary Club |
|
and as a member of the Calallen High School Booster Club board, sat |
|
on several committees for the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show, |
|
and held membership in the Padre Island Business Association; a man |
|
of deep faith, he was also active in his church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher was a devoted husband to his wife, |
|
Jackie, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage that spanned |
|
nearly six decades; he was also the proud father of three daughters, |
|
Melissa Feinstein, Martha Durham, and Margaret Sita, and a son, |
|
Michael Fisher, and he took great delight in his nine grandchildren |
|
and five great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although John Fisher will be deeply missed, he has |
|
left his family and friends with countless cherished memories, and |
|
they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of John Benard Fisher III and extend heartfelt sympathy to his loved |
|
ones and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John |
|
Fisher. |
