R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of The Fort Bend Church in Sugar Land are
  celebrating the 13th anniversary of their church's founding on
  August 6, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, In March 2004, the Reverend Byron C. Stevenson, with
  the help of his wife, Sonya, began organizing a new congregation in
  the Sugar Land community; the church held its first service at Sugar
  Land Middle School on August 1, and more than 600 individuals
  attended; the congregation has continued to grow in the years
  since, and it now numbers over 4,000; and
         WHEREAS, Soon after its founding, the church purchased 6.3
  acres of land at the corner of Eldridge Road and West Airport
  Boulevard; construction for a new sanctuary began in 2007, and the
  61,000-square-foot facility opened its doors two years later; and
         WHEREAS, For the past 13 years, The Fort Bend Church has
  served as a source of inspiration and guidance for Sugar Land
  residents, and many who have worshipped there have experienced a
  renewal of their faith and the welcoming embrace of a caring
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the 13th
  anniversary of The Fort Bend Church and extend to the congregation
  sincere best wishes for many more years of shared prayer and
  fellowship; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
