R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Major Pete J. Sanchez is retiring from the United |
|
States Air Force on October 1, 2017, concluding 22 years of |
|
exemplary service to this nation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his enlistment in 1995, Pete Sanchez |
|
finished basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio |
|
and was subsequently assigned to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma; |
|
commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2001, he was promoted to |
|
first lieutenant in 2002, captain in 2005, and major in 2010; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, Major Sanchez has logged more than |
|
4,600 flying hours, including over 775 combat and combat-support |
|
hours, and participated in such operations as Desert Thunder, |
|
Desert Fox, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Joint Guardian, New |
|
Dawn, and Inherent Resolve; after assignments as chief of awards |
|
and decorations, aircraft commander, flight commander, and |
|
instructor pilot, he was appointed in 2010 as assistant director of |
|
operations in the 349th Air Refueling Squadron, 22nd Operations |
|
Group, at McConnell AFB; since August 2014, this esteemed officer |
|
has served as chief pilot, as assistant director of operations, and |
|
as an instructor/evaluator pilot of the Central Flight Instructor |
|
Course at Altus AFB in Oklahoma; and |
|
WHEREAS, Major Sanchez has received numerous decorations and |
|
awards during his career, including the Meritorious Service Medal |
|
with oak leaf cluster, the Air Medal with oak leaf cluster, the |
|
Aerial Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force |
|
Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, and the Air Force |
|
Achievement Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his exceptional leadership, valor, and |
|
devotion to duty, Major Pete Sanchez has fulfilled the highest |
|
ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting |
|
chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Major Pete |
|
J. Sanchez on his retirement from the U.S. Air Force and extend to |
|
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Major Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
