R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Luis C. Luna of the Clint Independent School |
|
District has been named the 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year by |
|
the Region 19 Education Service Center; and |
|
WHEREAS, The winners of these prestigious annual awards are |
|
first nominated for consideration by their fellow faculty members, |
|
and those who are later chosen as district Teacher of the Year |
|
become eligible for the regional honor; and |
|
WHEREAS, A valued member of the faculty at Clint Junior High |
|
School for the past 13 years, Dr. Luna has taught courses in Texas, |
|
U.S., and world history, and science; he has further contributed to |
|
the school by coaching a variety of sports, including |
|
cross-country, basketball, football, track and field, baseball, |
|
and softball, at both the middle school and high school levels; he |
|
holds a bachelor's degree in sports medicine from The University of |
|
Texas at El Paso, a master's degree in educational administration |
|
from Sul Ross State University, and a doctoral degree in education |
|
from Northcentral University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Luis Luna exemplifies the passion, determination, |
|
and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |
|
and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his |
|
profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Luis |
|
C. Luna on his selection as the 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year |
|
by the Region 19 Education Service Center and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Luna as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
