R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The 95th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and World War II veteran Julio Sosa of Laredo
  is reaching that impressive milestone on August 8, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Julio Sosa was born in Laredo in 1922, one of the six
  children of Julio and Ramoncita Sosa; answering his nation's call
  to duty, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1945;
  and
         WHEREAS, After helping to liberate the Philippines from the
  Japanese army, Mr. Sosa was assigned to the American forces
  occupying Japan, following its surrender on September 2, 1945; and
         WHEREAS, This brave American was among the first U.S. troops
  to land in Yokohama, Japan, and he later served in Tokyo, as that
  country began its transition to democratic governance; and
         WHEREAS, Following his honorable discharge and return to
  civilian life, Julio Sosa spent many years with the railroads,
  serving as a switchman and brakeman for the Texas Mexican Railway
  and as a train master for the Missouri Pacific Railway; and
         WHEREAS, Married in 1944, Mr. Sosa and his wife, Clementina,
  were the proud parents of four children, Joe Sosa, Greg Sosa,
  Dr. Rosalinda Sosa Bonilla, and Henry Sosa; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of nine and a half decades, Julio
  Sosa has courageously served his nation in a time of war, enjoyed a
  long and successful career as a railwayman, and raised four
  exceptional children, and as he celebrates this special day, he is
  blessed with the admiration and affection of his family and many
  friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Julio Sosa on
  his 95th birthday, commend him for his military service, and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Sosa as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
