R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Bishop Lester E. Blount Sr. and his wife, First Lady
  Juanita Blount, were honored on July 9, 2017, for their seven years
  of dedicated service to Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church in
  Houston; and
         WHEREAS, A licensed minister for 47 years, Bishop Blount is
  ordained in the Baptist, Methodist, and Pentecostal denominations;
  he previously served for eight years as presiding bishop with the
  Independent Methodist Episcopal Church and is affiliated with
  numerous local and national religious organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Bishop Blount has worked tirelessly over the years
  to help the homeless as the founder of Faith Ministries Unlimited,
  and he is a cofounder of Kingdom's Children Fellowship of Garwood;
  under his leadership, the members of Good Samaritan have expanded
  their outreach to those in need, establishing a nursing home
  ministry, hosting community dinners, and providing food, shelter,
  and clothing for the indigent; the congregation has also designed
  programs oriented specifically for the young; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed pastor devotes countless hours to
  visiting the sick, the imprisoned, the bereaved, and anyone in need
  of spiritual guidance; his good works are amplified through the
  steadfast support and dedicated endeavors of his wife, Juanita; and
         WHEREAS, Lester and Juanita Blount have demonstrated a
  wholehearted commitment to Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist
  Church and the community at large, and their faith and open hearts
  have been a source of profound inspiration to all who know them;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Bishop Lester
  E. Blount Sr. and First Lady Juanita Blount for their outstanding
  seven-year tenure with Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church and
  extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Bishop and First Lady Blount as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
