R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the |
|
|
Chinese Institute of Engineers--USA are gathering in Richardson on |
|
|
August 19, 2017, to hold their annual convention and celebrate the |
|
|
centennial of the national CIE-USA organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1917, the Chinese Institute of |
|
|
Engineers--USA is a nonprofit organization of Chinese American |
|
|
engineers, scientists, and other professionals whose mission is to |
|
|
foster communication and cooperation and advance the overall |
|
|
well-being of the Chinese and Asian Pacific American engineering |
|
|
community; through seminars and other initiatives, the group seeks |
|
|
to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics |
|
|
(STEM) across the United States, and it sponsors awards at the |
|
|
national level to recognize Asian Pacific American professionals of |
|
|
distinction; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of seven regional chapters of CIE-USA, the DFW |
|
|
Chapter was established in 1989 and registered as a nonprofit |
|
|
organization in the State of Texas in 1992; since its inception, the |
|
|
chapter has focused on furthering community interest in STEM around |
|
|
the Metroplex, forming close ties with corporations and government |
|
|
entities around the world, and bringing in leaders from sponsoring |
|
|
organizations to share their insights at its annual conventions; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, chapter members enjoy a range of professional |
|
|
development and youth mentorship programs, including technical |
|
|
symposia, the MathComp/MathFun Fair, and numerous contests and |
|
|
achievement awards designed to engage young Texans in math and |
|
|
science; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their commitment to professional |
|
|
excellence, the men and women of the CIE-USA Dallas-Fort Worth |
|
|
Chapter are furthering a proud tradition of service, and it is a |
|
|
privilege to recognize the chapter as it marks a special milestone |
|
|
in the history of CIE-USA; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th |
|
|
anniversary of the Chinese Institute of Engineers--USA and honor |
|
|
the organization's Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter on the occasion of its |
|
|
annual convention; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
