R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, After half a century of distinguished service in the
  field of education, J. Glen Dossett retired as agriculture
  instructor for the Mineola Independent School District on June 30,
  2017; and
         WHEREAS, A Mineola native, Glen Dossett completed his
  bachelor's degree in agriculture science education at East Texas
  State University in 1967 and went to work that same year for
  Pittsburg ISD; in 1970, he received his master's degree in
  educational administration and joined Mineola ISD as its
  agriculture instructor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Dossett taught a wide variety of courses, from
  animal science to agriculture mechanics; in addition, he served as
  the district's FFA advisor, and many of the Career and Leadership
  Development Event teams he trained competed at the state level;
  moreover, he provided guidance for a host of Supervised
  Agricultural Experience projects and advised students working on
  FFA degrees, including the American FFA degree; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Dossett served Texas FFA as Area
  VI coordinator and as a member of committees at the district, area,
  and state levels; from 1975 to 1987, he held a seat on the board of
  the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas, which
  recognized him for efforts above and beyond the call of duty; he has
  additionally served on the Agriculture Committee of the Mineola
  Chamber of Commerce and has coordinated and planned its annual
  Mineola Hay Show; for his contributions to the chamber, he has
  received both its Appreciation Award and its Distinguished
  Achievement Award; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dossett is supported by
  the love and encouragement of his wife of 50 years, Darla Sue
  Dossett, and their three daughters, Kristi, Kerri, and Kelli; he
  also takes great pride in his three granddaughters; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Glen Dossett
  dedicated himself to helping young Texans build a strong foundation
  for future success, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many
  accomplishments as an educator; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate J. Glen
  Dossett on his retirement as agriculture instructor for the Mineola
  Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Dossett as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
