R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Jaklich of the Victoria Independent |
|
|
School District has been named the 2017 Superintendent of the Year |
|
|
for Education Service Center Region 3; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1984, the Texas Association of School Boards |
|
|
has sponsored this annual award to recognize school district |
|
|
superintendents for their outstanding leadership; those receiving |
|
|
the regional-level designation are honored at the Texas Association |
|
|
of School Administrators/TASB annual convention and are eligible |
|
|
for selection as state Superintendent of the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Jaklich began his distinguished tenure as |
|
|
superintendent of Victoria ISD in July 2012; under his able |
|
|
guidance, many campuses across the district have improved their |
|
|
state accountability ratings, and access to Advanced Placement and |
|
|
dual credit courses has significantly increased; he has also been |
|
|
instrumental in designing a more comprehensive early childhood |
|
|
program for pre-K students and has greatly expanded community |
|
|
involvement with the district by establishing a number of |
|
|
partnerships with local businesses and organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable Texan previously held teaching and |
|
|
administrative positions at schools in the Northside Independent |
|
|
School District in San Antonio, as well as in Harlandale ISD, where |
|
|
he led the district as superintendent; he has also served as an |
|
|
assistant basketball coach at St. Mary's University; Dr. Jaklich |
|
|
holds a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's, a master's degree in |
|
|
administration and supervision from Texas A&I University in |
|
|
Kingsville, and a doctorate in education from The University of |
|
|
Texas at Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Jaklich's hard work and commitment to |
|
|
excellence have made a positive difference in the lives of |
|
|
countless Texas students, and his receipt of this prestigious |
|
|
accolade provides a fitting opportunity to recognize his myriad |
|
|
contributions to public education in the Lone Star State; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Robert |
|
|
Jaklich on his selection as the 2017 Superintendent of the Year for |
|
|
Education Service Center Region 3 and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Jaklich as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
