A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the dedication of a portion of state lottery proceeds to |
|
|
the funding of salary increases and bonuses for experienced public |
|
|
school classroom teachers and costs associated with school district |
|
|
teacher retirement contributions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

|
SECTION 1. Section 466.355, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Of the money transferred to the foundation school fund |
|
|
under Subsection (b)(4)(B) in each state fiscal year, 50 percent |
|
|
shall be used only for funding salary increases for public school |
|
|
classroom teachers with at least six years of teaching experience |
|
|
and school district costs exclusively associated with teacher |
|
|
retirement contributions authorized by this section, and any |
|
|
portion of the 50 percent remaining after giving priority to |
|
|
funding for those purposes shall be used for funding bonuses to |
|
|
public school classroom teachers with at least six years of |
|
|
teaching experience. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
