SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 23
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Clifford Lawrence Barlow
 
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with
  the passing of Clifford Lawrence Barlow of Mineola on July 2,
  2017, at the age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Louise and Clifford Barlow, Larry Barlow
  was born in Mineola on December 2, 1932, and grew up with the
  companionship of his brother, Jay; after graduating from Mineola
  High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in geology at
  Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the
  varsity golf team and Phi Delta Theta fraternity; he later
  attended graduate school at The University of Tulsa and also
  answered his nation's call to duty by serving as a fighter pilot
  in the United States Air Force; and
         WHEREAS, In 1958, Mr. Barlow began his career as a
  geologist at Oklahoma Natural Gas; six years later, he joined the
  Marion Corporation, and over the course of his tenure, he worked
  his way up from exploration manager to vice president of
  exploration; in 1970, he founded the Min-Tex Oil Corporation, and
  he continued to lead the company until the time of his death; he
  was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists,
  the Tulsa Geological Society, the Tulsa Association of Petroleum
  Landmen, and the Oklahoma City Association of Professional
  Landmen; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Barlow and his wife, Jane, shared a rewarding
  marriage that spanned 35 years, and he was the proud father of two
  sons, Bradley and Buckley Barlow, and two stepchildren, Dana and
  Max Jones; he also took great delight in his five grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, A lifetime member of the Southern Methodist
  University Alumni Association, Mr. Barlow was an ardent supporter
  of Mustang athletics; he maintained his love for golf throughout
  his life and enjoyed playing at courses across the country and
  around the world; and
         WHEREAS, Although Larry Barlow will be deeply missed, he
  has left his family and friends with countless cherished
  memories, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Clifford Lawrence Barlow and extend heartfelt sympathy to his
  family and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Larry Barlow.
